I chose to create Living for Wellness as I constantly thought about healthy choices and living the best life possible, and I had continuously reflected on my mother's illness and what could have been done to have made a difference in her short time with us.
Mindset is Key
I was in a car accident in 2003. I had always been relatively lean, never overweight, but after being off work for a year and a half due to a neck injury that was later diagnosed as chronic degenerative, I remember thinking, wow, this is my life? The pain was extreme. My movement and my range of motion were poor and very limited. Six months passed...and up went the scale, then another six months..scale-up up...no activity, take out food and too much wine..up up up... 120 to 160 that's what happened.I finally realized I needed to change my mindset and my focus if I ever wanted to adjust all that was becoming of me.
YES, I wanted to lose the weight I had gained, but the most important thing for me was being healthier, stronger, and feeling better. I knew a quick fix was not the answer because I didn't just want to lose the weight – I wanted to keep it off. I knew it needed to be a lifestyle change, so I began a 40 day Vegan challenge; it is now almost ten years since I started that challenge, pain is minimal, my range of motion is phenomenal. Which has also led me to want to help others be the best they can be.
